Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Live Radio (“we”, “our”, “the App”) handles information when you use the mobile application and its companion services. Live Radio is published by the developer of the app available on the Apple App Store under the same name.

We have built Live Radio to collect as little personal information as possible. We do not require an account, we do not ask for your name or email address, and we do not sell data to anyone.

1. Information we collect

Anonymous analytics. We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate — which screens are opened, which stations are popular, which features work, what kind of device the App runs on. This data is anonymized: it cannot be linked back to your name, your Apple ID, your phone number, or your email.

Device information. Basic, non-identifying information such as the device model, the iOS / watchOS version, the App version, and the device language. This is used to deliver the right localizations, fix crashes, and ensure compatibility.

Approximate region. The App can show you radio stations popular in your country. To do this, it reads your device’s region setting (e.g. “US”, “DE”, “UA”) — not your precise location. If you grant location permission, we use your coarse country only; we do not store coordinates or track movement.

Your saved content (on-device). Your favorite stations, recently played list, theme preference, and sleep timer settings are stored locally on your device using Apple’s standard storage APIs. They never leave the device unless you choose to back up your device through iCloud (in which case Apple’s privacy policy applies).

Network logs. Like any service operated over the Internet, our backend (api.liveradio.today) records standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, response code — for security, fraud prevention, and infrastructure debugging. These logs are retained for no more than 30 days and are not used to build a profile of you.

2. Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, or phone number.
  • We do not ask you to create an account.
  • We do not collect or store payment information (purchases are processed by Apple — see Section 5).
  • We do not track your precise location or your movements.
  • We do not access your photos, contacts, calendar, microphone (except briefly for the optional Shazam-based song identification feature, see Section 7), or any other personal device data.
  • We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share data with advertising networks or data brokers.

3. How we use the information we do collect

  • To make the App work — play streams, show stations, remember your favorites.
  • To understand which features are useful and where the App can be improved.
  • To detect and fix crashes, performance issues, and broken stations.
  • To prevent abuse of our backend infrastructure.

We do not use any of this information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the App.

4. Third-party services

The App and its backend rely on a small number of third-party services:

  • Google Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage analytics. Firebase privacy policy.
  • Radio Browser (radio-browser.info) — open-source community directory we use to source the station catalog. We periodically sync metadata from this directory; we do not send your personal data to Radio Browser.
  • Apple services — AVPlayer, MPNowPlayingInfoCenter, MPRemoteCommandCenter, App Store purchase processing, iCloud backup (if you enable it for the device), and WatchConnectivity for the Apple Watch companion app. Apple’s privacy policy applies.
  • Broadcasters’ own stream servers — when you press Play, the App connects directly to the radio station’s published stream URL. The station’s own operator may log standard request data (your IP address, user-agent, etc.) as it would for any web visitor. We have no control over those logs and do not receive them.

5. In-App Purchases

If you choose to support the App through an optional in-app purchase or subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple via the App Store. We do not receive or store your credit card number, billing address, or Apple ID. Apple shares only an anonymous receipt with the App so we know that the purchase is valid. Apple’s App Store & Privacy policy applies to those transactions.

6. Location data

The App can show “Popular in your area” stations. We obtain this in one of two ways, in this order:

  1. The device region setting (Locale.current.regionCode) — does not require permission.
  2. If you have granted “While Using the App” location permission, we read your coarse country only.

We never store latitude/longitude, we do not request precise location, and we do not track location in the background.

7. Optional Shazam-based identification

If a radio stream does not provide a song title via its standard ICY metadata, the App may use Apple’s ShazamKit to identify the currently playing song. This works entirely on-device through Apple’s framework — a short audio sample is processed locally into a fingerprint and matched against Apple’s Shazam catalog. We do not record, upload, or store any audio ourselves. Apple’s privacy policy applies to ShazamKit.

8. Children’s privacy

Live Radio is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

9. Your rights

Because we collect so little personal information and do not associate it with you, most data subject rights do not technically apply — there is no profile to access, correct, or delete. You can, however, at any time:

  • Delete your locally saved data by removing favorites individually, or by uninstalling the App.
  • Opt out of analytics by disabling “Share iPhone Analytics” in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, or by uninstalling the App.
  • Request information about what backend logs may contain your IP address by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are a resident of the EU/EEA, the UK, California, or another jurisdiction with comprehensive data-protection law, you may also have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, or local equivalents (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent). Requests under those rights should be sent to [email protected].

10. International data transfers

Our backend infrastructure is hosted in the European Union and the United States. Firebase Analytics processes data on infrastructure operated by Google in multiple regions. By using the App, you understand that anonymized usage data may be processed outside your country of residence.

11. Data retention

  • Anonymous analytics are retained according to Google Firebase’s default settings (currently 14 months for event-level data).
  • Backend network logs are retained for no more than 30 days.
  • Your locally saved data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.

12. Security

We use TLS (HTTPS) for all communication between the App and our backend. We follow standard security practices for our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but because we collect no personal information, there is essentially nothing about you for an attacker to obtain from us.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the App’s release notes. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
